2007 Hall of Fame Inductees


The Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame has chosen 10 athletes and coaches for it's 2007 inductees at the Aug 4th banquet.

Actor John Beasley emcee'd this years events with Ron Brown as the featured speaker.

The honorees each will have a plaque on display at the North Omaha Boys and Girls Club at 26th and Hamilton Streets until a permanent site for the hall is constructed.



Curlee Alexander Curlee Alexander, Omaha Tech: A NAIA national wrestling champion at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, his Tech and Omaha North teams won seven state titles and he coached 46 state champions between the two schools.

Bobby Bass Bobby Bass, Omaha Benson: The first three-time All-Nebraska football player, he played college football at Kansas and UNO. He set the Maverick career rushing record.

Dick Davis Dick Davis, Omaha North: The 1965 World-Herald boys athlete of the year was an All-Nebraska football player at North and All-Big Eight at Nebraska.

Ken Geddes Ken Geddes, Boys Town: An all-starter in football, he helped the Cowboys win two state titles in basketball and one in football. In track, he ran on the gold-medal mile relay. He was All-Big Eight at NU before playing eight years at linebacker in the NFL.

Angee Henry Angee Henry, Bellevue West: She was a two-time NCAA long jump champion, a three-time conference chanmpion and 10-time All-American at NU. She holds the state high school record in the 400 meters (55.36).

Mike McGee Mike McGee, Omaha North: The basketball player was the 1977 World-Hearald boys athlete of the year. He averaged 21.4 points at Michigan, was All-American as a seniour and played nine years in the NBA.

Mike Rozier Mike Rozier, NU: From Camden, N.J., he was the 1983 Heisman Trophy winner after he rushed for a school record 2148 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Rudy Smith Rudy Smith, Omaha: The veteran photographer for The World-Heald has captured many of the hall of famer's top moments on film and digital image.

Larry Station Larry Station, Omaha Central: A two-time All-Nebraska football player who won three track and field gold medals in the weights, he was a two-time All-America linebacker at Iowa.

Phillip_Wise Phillip Wise, Omaha Tech: A nine-year veteran of the NFL, he was all-conference at UNO in football and played on a high school state championship baseball team.
